Our Why

This farm captured our imagination from the first moment we saw it. The rolling pastures, the private and secluded home, the water and mountain views – the vineyard. We were not grape growers, we were not wine makers, and we were not farmers. We had no other plan than to live on this land and relax.

Ten years on, our vision has cleared, our children have grown, and we have had time to reflect on what is important to us. In looking at this building, some might ask why did we build something so large and inviting, so embryonic in its potential with so much work as its core. The why is easy. We built it for our family. We built it for the memories that will be created, for the unions that will be witnessed, for the gatherings that will long be remembered, and for the many causes and community needs that this space will satisfy. We built it to celebrate the lives of those who shaped us, those who inspired us, and those we will long remember. We built it to frequently gather those around us who feel at home when they are here, who feel a part of this space because they were involved with the idea or who simply love the result. We build it to create wonderful wine to pair with fabulous food made even better by the company that you enjoy with it. We built it for future generations of family and neighbors who will grow up never able to remember a time when they did not harvest grapes, did not see cows in the field, did not sled those steep hills in the winter, or enjoy the coolness of the winery on a hot summer day. This building is a lifetime of ideas and experiences shaped and molded – not into retirement, but into life.

Finally, we built it for you, so that for a day or a week, every now and then you can come and be a part of this magical place. Leave the turmoil of your busy life behind and come see us – come recharge your soul. Your stopover will give this building purpose.
