About Us

Overlooking the Puget Sound, our family-run farm and winery on South Whidbey Island is a perfect place to stop and enjoy a taste of local wine. John Erdeli planted the first grape vines on the estate in the late 1990s. He nurtured the plants and invited the community to help harvest them each fall. Carl and Rita Comfort returned to the island and bought the 22-acre farm in 2006 and in 2010 converted an existing building into their winery and tasting room. They continue the tradition of hand tending the vineyard year around, and the locals still assist in picking the grapes. It's truly a family and community effort.

Comforts of Whidbey aims for the highest standard in both grape production and processing to create Artisan wines made solely from grapes grown on our farm.

Our vines include Siegerrebe, Madeleine Angevine, Madeleine Sylvaner and Pinot Noir. From these four types of grapes we produce three excellent straight varietals and three unique blends. We have an experience for every palate.

We invite you to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy our wines while appreciating the beautiful view of the Cascade Mountains and Puget Sound that our picnic area provides.

Comforts of Whidbey is proud to provide a congenial atmosphere for families as well as the discerning oenophile. Mobility-impaired individuals will find our amenities easily accessible.

Our tasting room is open from 12:00-5:00 Friday thru Sunday and other times by appointment. We look forward to sharing our passion for wine with both travelers and locals; we think you'll enjoy seeing the place where our wine comes from - it's all local, all right here on the farm.
